Eco club of Govt. Degree College Marh celebrated Earth day in the college campus under the dynamic leadership of worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul on 22.04.2024. The theme for World Earth Day 2024 is ‘Planet v/s Plastics’, addresses one of the most pressing environmental issues, that is, plastic pollution. Principal, in his address, stressed that this day is dedicated to educating and mobilizing individuals and communities on the importance of the environment; the necessity of its preservation and restoration. The theme of this year specially focuses on reducing plastic pollution and a commitment in making sustainable choices that will ensure a livable future for all. Students of 4th and 2nd semester namely Ayush, Navpreet, Raveena, Sonia, Palak, Roshni prepared beautiful decorative items out of plastic waste like pen holder, pots, flowers, etc. The activity was coordinated by Dr. Shakun Sharma (HOD Sociology), Prof. Anjana Chib (HOD EVS) and Mr. Mohit Kalotra. The occasion was graced by Prof. Madhvi Parasher (HOD Botany) and Ms. Kahkeshan Shahnaz. It is pertinent to mention here that college has already taken initiative to process plastic waste by having MOU with RUDA.




Eco-club of GDC Marh celebrated World Environment Day under the theme “Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience” on 5th June 2024, under the able leadership of our worthy Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul. Principal awared the students that this theme calls attention to one of the most pressing issues of our time – land degradation driven by factors such as deforestation, unsustainable agriculture, urbanization, and climate change is posing a grave threat to ecosystems and livelihoods worldwide. It is a cause of concern and calls for concerted efforts to address the same. He also encouraged the students to plant more and more trees during rainy seasons which will not only prevent desertification but also help in reducing the temperature. While applauding the faculty he apprised the students that our college has adopted various green practices such as plantations drives, p roper segregation and recycling of waste, making best out of waste. Students of Semester 2nd (Raveena Kousar, Khushi choudhary, Sonia choudhary, Sweety Kaith) and 4th ( Kashish and Navpreet) made handmade bird feeders, water pots on the said occasion. They utilized simple materials such as shells, bottles and jute twines to create eco-friendly bird feeders. After installing their bird feeders around the campus, students spent the day watching various birds visit that will provide sustenance to birds during extreme weather. Poster making competition was also held where students made colorful posters under slogan “Our land Our future” showcasing the significance of afforestation and Land Resortation”. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Anjana Chib (HOD EVS) and Dr. Shakun Sharma.

Date: 21-03-2024GDC Marh Organised (on Navroz) SVEEP PorgrammeGDC Marh organized (on Nauroz, 21-03-2024) Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral participation awareness programme under the directions of SDM Marh Sh. Manu Hansa. The Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Koul interacted with the students and awared them that SVEEP which is a flagship programme of Election Commission of India for Voter’s education , spreading voter awareness and promoting voters literacy in India. The vision of SVEEP is to enlighten, enable and empower every citizen to register as a voter and cast his/her vote at every election in a informed and ethical manner, universal and enlightened participation of citizens in election and democracy. The objectives (2022-25) of SVEEP include purifying the electoral roll of every polling booth, bridging gender gap in enrollment and turnout, ensuring inclusion of all non- voters/ marginalized sections through targeted interventions, technological solutions and policy change, addressing urban and youth apathy in electoral participation, turning around all low turnout constituencies and polling stations. Election commission of Indian offers voters registration for Indian citizens who have attained the age of 18 on the qualifying dates (1st Jan, 1st April, 1st July and 1st October) of the year of revision of electoral roll. Form 6 can be filled online at “National Voters Service Portal” (www.voterportal.eci.gov.in). ECI publications like SVEEP manual, Voter Guide, Leap of Faith, SVEEP Strategy IV and BLO e-Patrika are also available online on portal. Students of the college displayed various play cards and charts on the theme of election and electoral participation.The SDM Marh Sh. Manu Hansa and SVEEP Nodal Officer Smt. Group photographs of students displaying the slogan charts were taken and refreshment was served to all the students.




GDC Marh organised Plethora of activities on National Youth day To commemorate National Youth Day, Red Ribbon Club GDC Marh in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society (funding department), Jammu under the aegis of Higher Education Department organised awareness programme in the college premises under the guidance of worthy Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul wherein he emphasized that the celebration holds great significance as it aims to share the thoughts and principles of Swami Vivekananda among the youth of India. He discussed with the students in detail about the leadership, empathy, courage, spiritualism of Swami Vivekananda and students can get inspiration from him and said that only youth holds the power to change the society. On the First day, Poster making competition on the theme “Ideas and teachings of Swami Vivekananda” was organised in which students made handmade posters related to the theme. The main aim to organise the competition was to inspire and motivate the youth, disseminating the ideas propagated by Swami Vivekananda to contribute towards creating a more promising future for country. An Essay writing competition on the theme “Arise, Awake and Realise the power you hold”was organised on the second day in which about 20 students participatedwith zeal and enthusiasm. Vivek Sharma of BA SemVIth bagged first position; Khushi Rani of BA Sem IVth got second position while third posts was bagged by Sanjana Bhagat of VIth sem. The consolation prize was given out to Ritika Choudhary of BA Sem VI. An awareness lecture on the ideas and teachings of Swami Vivekananda was also organised in the college campus. The resource person for the event was Dr. Ashu Jolly (HOD Education). She gave a detailed review of life of Swami Vivekananda, his philosophy and a propagator of Vedanta philosophy. She highlighted the teachings of Swami for present day youth and his relevance in present day. To create awareness on health, sanitation and nutrition, 25 students of Red Ribbon club visited Aganwadi centre, Panchayat Dhateryal, Marh. Principal of the college Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul also visited the center and discussed with the students that Anganwadi programmes are a part of Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS)/ Poshan Abhiyan and provide supplementary nutrition, basic healthcare and pre-school education and this programme also extends to pregnant and lactating mothers. Various parameters such as weekly meal schedule for kids of various age groups, adolescent girls, nursing mother, diet chart of pregnant ladies, supplements such as calcium, iron tablets, education standard were discussed by the students with the aganwadi sangini and sahayaka. College students got first hand experience of interaction with the kids. Prof. Imitaz Shahid (HOD Zoology), Ms. Madhavi Parasher (HOD Botany), Ms Anjana Chib (HOD EVS), Dr. Sheetal Sharma (HOD Dogri) also accompanied the students during the visit. Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of Red Ribbon Club of college and highlighted the importance of initiatives taken by the college in creating awareness among the students The programmes were organised by Prof. Anjana Chib (Convenor, Red Ribbon Club) and coordinated by Dr. Shakun Sharma (Co-Convenor, Red Ribbon Club). Refreshment was served to students. Participating students were awarded with the certificate of Appreciation.




GDC MARH ORGANISED PLETHORA OF ACTIVITIES UNDER THE VISION VIKSIT BHARAT@2047: VOICE OF YOUTH GDC Marh joins hands with the biggest launch of Government Initiative by conducting series of activities under the Vision Viksit Bharat@2047 under the guidance of Principal of the college Prof (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Koul. While addressing the faculty and students Principal of the college emphasized the importance of college students in achieving this goal. He exhorted the students to contribute by giving innovative ideas and suggestions and register them on MyGov Portal. He urged the faculty to guide and encourage students to come up with recent and inventive ideas to fulfil the dream of our Honourable Prime Minister. To promote, organize, disseminate information, and mobilize the students for this whole event, ensuring the feedback from students on MyGov Portal a Viksit Bharat Committee was framed in the college. An event itinerary was prepared for activities to be conducted under theme “Viksit Bharat @2047” On 11/12/2023 a whatsapp group Viksit Bharat GDC Marh was made, in which all the faculty students of the college are added to provide recent updates regarding the campaign by the convenor of Viksit Bharat committee. Government Degree College Marh, in collaboration with BDO Office, Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj and Government Middle School, Dhateryal, organized reception of Viksit Bharat Sankalap Yatra on 13/12/2023 The participants received the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) Van, which started its journey from Jharkhand, travelling across different parts of the country and reaching Govt. Degree College Marh. The campaign showcased a significant commitment to rural development and community empowerment. The collaborative effort aimed to promote the Prime Minister’s vision to actively involve the youth of the country in formulation of national plans, priorities and goals of the country. Principal of the College Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, welcomed all the dignitaries, local public and officials controlling stalls put up by different government departments and expressed gratitude for this collaborative effort. On 13/12/2023 to disseminate the information quickly and for convenient communication among the students “Notice on Notice Boards” activity was conducted. Small size posters or print outs with QR Code and web link was displayed on all the notice boards of the colleges by the department of Physical Education. In order to actively involve the youth of the country in the formulation of national plans, priorities, and goals of the country poster making competition was organised on 15/12/2023 under the theme “Goals for Viksit Bharat”. Students actively participated in the event and showcased their creativity in the form of their ideas at Bharat@2047. The event was organized by the Department of Environmental Sciences. On 18/12/2023 a debate competition on the theme Ideas for Developed India @ 2047 was also organized by the Department of Sociology in which 10 students participated. The competiton was judged by Prof. Imtiaz Shahid (HOD Zoology) and Prof. Asha Kumari (HOD Geography) in which Sangeeta Devi got 1st position, Richa got 2nd place and and 3rd position was shared by Jeevan kaith and Ketan from1st semester. To channelize the innovative ideas of the youth into nation building and contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 so that they can participate in this important nation building exercise Faculty talk on the ideas for Viksit Bharat with students was also organized by all the faculty members of the college on 19/12/2023. In the faculty talk members guided and encouraged the students to give their ideas for nation building. On 21/12/2023 Online movie screening was showcased to students by NSS PO Sachin Kumar Bhagat. The movie gave a detailed view of various challenges such as poverty, GDP, Sustainable Economy, Human Development Index, Poverty; Unemployment India has to face in order to become a developed nation. The film gave a blueprint to students about the parameters on which they have to work to achieve the goal of developed nation. A Marathon was also organized in the college by department of Physical Education and Sports on 23/12/2023. Principal flagged off the marathon run. 53 students of the college participated in the marathon. As per the directions of Higher Education Department, a selfie booth point was purchased in the college campus on 26/12/2023 with slogan “I have shared my idea for ViksitBharat@2047. Have You? A large number of students participated in the event. The Selfie booth point was highly appreciated the students. The initiative aims to promote the vision of a developed India by year 2047. The activities were organized by Mr. Imitaz Shahid (HOD Zoology), Ms. Anjana chib (HOD EVS), Ravi Kumar (PTI) and Dr. Shakun Sharma (HOD Sociology).




GDC Marh organised Two day’s workshop on Mental Health and Psychosocial well being. Under the initiative Manodarpan, Psychological Counselling Cell, GDC Marh organised two days workshop on Mental Health and Psychosocial well being in the college for students and faculty under the guidance Principal Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Koul where he stressed that psychological well being and Mental Health Awareness is the need of the hour, it is the corner stone of our overall well-being, and its significance cannot be overstated and hoped that students of the college will definitely come-up with their concerns got benefitted from the workshop. On first day the resource person of the event was Dr Shabila Wani, Department of Psychology, GDC Billawar, discussed in detail about mental wellbeing which very important to become fully functional human being. She also talked about factors of Psychological well being such as Secure Childhood, Emotional Health (EQ), Social Support System and Socio- Economic status, Seasonal Affect Disorder (SAD). She highlighted the importance of connection with nature, kindness, gratitude and contentment and exhorted the students to spend time with nature. On Second day Dr. Piyali Arora, Department of Psychology, GDC Udhampur was the resource person. She spoke about the signs of Psychological Disturbance among young Adults and ways to help. She gave a detailed power point presentation about challenges of college life such as career selection, academic load and parental expectations. She talked about mental health disorders, anxiety disorders such as social phobia, panic disorders and obsessive compulsive disorders and explained that these should not be considered as stigma and encouraged the students to talk about them freely. She also discussed with the students about sensitive issue of Suicide and urged them to show interest and be supportive to the victim. Proceedings of the programme was conducted By Ms.Madhavi Parasher (HOD Botany) while Mr. Imitaz Shahid (HOD Zoology) presented the formal Vote Of Thanks. The programme was organised by Dr.Shakun Sharma (HOD Sociology) and coordinated by Ms. Anjana Chib (HOD EVS). Mr. Ram Dayal (HOD Maths), Dr. Balwinder Saini (HOD Chemistry), Dr. Sheetal Sharma (HOD Dogri) and Mr. Ravi Kumar (PTI) were also present in the workshop. Technical support was provided by Mohit Kalotra (MTS.) 54 students including Atul, Sanjana, Pallavi, Rohit Kumar, Sandeep Mottan participated in the workshop. They interacted with the resource persons and gave their feedback. Refreshment was served to the students. Students were awarded with certificate of Participation.

GDC Marh: Face Painting, Human Chain activities and awareness under World AIDS Day
To commemorate World AIDS Day, Red Ribbon Club GDC Marh in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society under the aegis of Higher Education Department organised three day (30th nov -2nd dec 2023) awareness programme in the college premises under the guidance of worthy Principal Prof. Dr.Rakesh Kumar Koul. In his address he emphasised on the need of satisfaction under all circumstances and simple habits to have a successful and blissful life. He also highlighted the ill effects and stigma associated with this deadly disease. On the First day, Poster making competition on the theme ‘Let Communities Lead’ was organised in which students made handmade posters related to the theme. Second day was celebrated by an Interactive lecture and Rangoli making Competition in the college. Prof. Imitaz Shahid (HOD Zoology) gave a power point presentation in detail about the symptoms, mode of transmission and prevention of HIV AIDS. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of 65 students showcasing a collective commitment to understanding and addressing the issues surrounding HIV/AIDS. Prof Sachin Kumar Bhagat (NSS PO) gave the formal vote of thanks. Face painting and human chain was formed by the students of1st and 3rd semester viz Laksmi, Parul, Kashish, Navpreet, Varun, Ritika, Laxmi, Raveena kousar, Shruti Sharma, Palak saini, Khushi choudhary, Pallavi Jagotra, Sanjana Devi in the college. Dated: 01.11.2023 GDC Marh organizes Symposium on Corporal Punishment IQAC GDC Marh organised symposium on Corporal Punishment and its ill effects under the theme “My constitution My Pride” on 22nd Nov 2023.The symposium was organized under the able guidance of esteemed Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Kumar Koul exemplifying the institution's steadfast dedication to ensuring the comprehensive well-being of its students. In his keynote Prof Dr. Rakesh koul emphasized that traditional corporal punishment increases childrens behavioural problems over time and has no positive outcomes. He emphasized that there should be a positive relationship between student and teacher and student should maintain discipline within and beyond the institution. Prof Imitaz Shahid (HOD Zoology) conducted the proceedings of the programme. 20 students participated in the symposium. These students articulated compelling arguments, illuminating the adverse effects of corporal punishment while acknowledging the necessity for firmness in certain situations. Out of 20 students Vivek Sharma of Vth sem bagged the Ist position, Sanjana Bhagat of Vth sem got the IInd position and the IIIrd position was shared by Eshaan Saini of IIIrd sem and Abhishek Bhagat of IIIrd sem while consolation prizes were given to Manish Kumar and Harshul Gupta of IIIrd sem. Sushain Kumar of IIIrd sem and Abhay Singh Jamwal of Ist sem helped in event management. The whole event was organized and coordinated by Ms.Madavi Parasher (HOD Botany), Ms. Anjana Chib(HOD EVS) Dr Shakun Sharma. ( HOD Sociology)




Dated: 31-10-2023 GDC Marh observed Vigilance Awareness WeekInternal Quality Assurance Cell of GDC Marh under the patronage of College Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul and under the ages of Higher education department, observed “Vigilance Awareness Week” from 30th October to 5th November 2023 with theme “Say No to Corruption: commit to the Nation.” For the commencement of the event “An Integrity Pledge” was taken by all the faculty members in the gracious presence of Principal of the college Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul. The main motto of the pledge was to follow probity and rule of law in all walks of life



Date: 01/11/2023 GDC Marh celebrated J&K UT Foundation Day Internal Quality Assurance Cell of GDC Marh under the patronage of College Principal Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul and under the ages of Higher education department, organized, two days, different activities among students, including Essay writing competition, Photography competitiion, Painting and Videography competition, to celebrate UT Foundation Day of Jammu & Kashmir. Principal of the college in his address highlighted that all the positive changes that have taken place since the creation of Jammu and Kashmir as a Union Territory, the Jammu and Kashmir administration is celebrating October 31 2023 as the ‘Union Territory Foundation Day’ with the theme “Badalta Jammu Kashmir, Badhta Jammu Kashmir; Aman aur Taraqqi Ki Nayi Tasveer”.In Essay writing competition Prerna of BA 5th semester secured first position, followed by Sanjana Bhagat BA 5th Sem, won second and Shivali of BA 1st semester got third rank respectively. In Painting competition, Mishu Devi ( BA 3rd Sem) secured first rank, followed by Sanjana Devi( BA 3rd Sem) got second, Randeep (B.Sc.3rd) and Kashish (B.A 3rd sem) got third rank. Pawaneet Kumar and Bobby Kumar of Bsc.3rd secured first and second rank, followed by Sudikshin of BSc.5th Sem got third rank in the Photography Competition. InVideography competition, Diksha Devi of B.Sc. 3rd sem secured Ist rank, followed by Jeevan Kaith of B.Sc.1st sem and Lakhbir Singh of B A 5th Sem. won second and third rank respectively. The event was organised and coordinated by the members of IQAC committee. A total of 50 students of BA/BSc/BCom participated in these activities including all faculty members, Mohit kalotra and Rachhpal. All staff members participated in selfie contest also.Certificates of Merit/Appreciation/participation were also distributed among the students.

GDC Marh observed Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations on the theme ‘Truth and Non-Violence’ The Cultural Committee along with Literary Committee of the college organized a number of activities related to Gandhi Jayanti Celebrations o the theme ‘Truth and Non-Violence’ within the college campus and in the village Dhateryal under the supreme guidance of the college Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul. The basic theme for organizing bonanza of activities was to create awareness and inculcating Gandhian humanity, brotherhood and secularism among the students and local people in the vicinity of the college. On 19 September, singing competition, collage making and easy writing competition were organized for the student so all semesters where they participated with lots of enthusiasm. The theme for the same was ‘Gandhian philosophy on Non-Violence’. On 20th Sept 2023 a good number of student s did book reading of the books, “My Experiment with Truth” and autobiography of Gandhi ji and “All Men are Brothers”. A complete book on life and thoughts of Mahatama Gandhi as told in his own words. This enhanced the knowledge and added a new philosophy in the life of students. On 21st Sept. 30 students of all streams of the college visited to a public park in the village Dhateryal where they carried on Swacchta Aabhiyaan and spreaded the message of hygienic environment by reciting a number of slogans on the theme On 22nd Sept 2023, an online quiz on ‘Gandhian Philosophy of life’ was organized and sent to the whats app group of the college students as well as the students of other colleges and were motivated to participate actilvely.

Gandhi Jayanti and Two days Swachhata Abhiyan (Swachhta hi Sewa, 2023) at GDC Marh Students, faculty and staff of Govt. Degree College Marh conducted two days cleanliness drive and celebrated International day of Non-violence on the eve of Mahatma Gandhi’s 154th Birth anniversary. The two days event began on 1st October 2023, cleanliness drives in the form of an awareness rally which started from GDC Marh and culminated at the adopted village Dhateryal in which the volunteers from NSS, students, faculty and staff participated. A pledge on Swachhata Abhiyan was taken by the students, teachers, panch, sarpanch and civil society members of the adopted village Dhateryal. Cleanliness drive was carried out in the college premises, streets, grounds, nearby regions of canal falling under the adopted village. The day one of the programme under the supervision of Principal Dr. Rakesh kumar koul, was coordinated by Prof. Sachin Kumar Bhagat (NSS PO), Prof. Ram Dayal. Day two, on 2nd October of the programme began with the pledge on non violence as a mark tribute on 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi ji. There was a debate activity on biography and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi ji among the students of the college. In addition a short motivational movie on autobiography of Bapu ji was shown to the students of the college. The students again carried out a cleanliness drive in the corridors, classrooms, laboratories etc. The day two of the programme was coordinated by Dr Balwinder Saini (BSAG leader), Prof. Asha Kumari (BSAG leader), Prof. Ram Dayal (HOD Mathematics) , Mr Ravi Kumar (PTI). To commemorate Hindi diwas, Dohaareen Kala Manch, Billawar organize National level essay writing, essay writing and poetry writing competition under the guidance of Mr. Shuvam Mankotia, President Dohaareen Kala Manch, Billawar. Students from various Institutions across the Nation participated with great zeal, enthusiasm and fervor in this competition. The aim of these events is to enlighten student community of the importance of our National Language and help them in understanding the rich lingual culture of the country. It is the day of national importance, celebrated on the 14th of September every year, on that day Hindi was adopted as our official language by the constituent assembly of India in 1949. It is certainly a great decision to dedicate a day exclusively to this language. Hindi diwas is celebrated with zeal since it’s inception in 1953. In essay writing competition Sanjana bhagat and Shivani devi of GDC Marh and Shikha pathania of GDC Mahanpur got 1st,2nd and 3rd position respectively. In short story writing competition Angraz singh of M.A hindi JU, Viraj Katyal and Ayush kumar of Sainik school Nagrota got 1st,2nd and 3rd position respectively. In poetry writing competition Sarita choudhary of GDC Marh bagged 1st position while 2nd position was shared by Diksha thakur of M.A hindi JU and Navneet Parihar of Sainik school Nagrota and 3rd position was shared by Supriya devi and Aarik verma of Sainik school Nagrota. E-Certificates were awarded to the all the participants of the competition. The competition was coordinated by Mr. Vishal Singh Andotra, Gen. Secretary of organisation. The organizing committee comprised of Mr. Bhushan Singh, Mr. Rakesh Singh and Miss. Rajni Parihar. Today while shortlisting the participant’s writing an online meeting was organized in which Dr. Arvindrer singh AMN was the guest of honor and Lt. Dr. Rajni kumari presided the meeting. While interacting the team members of DKM Dr. Arvinder singh AMN, former additional secretary JKAACL first of all compliment to President Mr. Shuvam Mankotia, Chairperson Dr. Rajni kumari and his team for organizing such an appreciable event on the eve of hindi diwas celebrated throughout the world. He said that while organizing such type of online programs, this will boost the youth to facilitating their ability the talent of creative writing in their respective field or interested areas. He also hoped that DKM will in future accelerate their activities by organizing creative writing workshops and workshops for documentation and collection of folk of that area. Through such activities we can aware our youth about our heritage, our culture and our national language. Lt. Dr. Rajni Kumari, Chairperson of Organization congratulated the coordinator, organizers and participants of the competition for making the event a great success. While speaking, she highlighted that Hindi is the national language of our Nation. This is the language of the masses and can become an effective medium of communicating facts and great ideas to the people. Further she said in order to boost this language, we should celebrate this day every year for strengthening the beautiful language which acts as a bridge between people of different cultures and religions. Earlier Mr. Shuvam Mankotia, President of Dohaareen Kala Manch welcomed the whole gathering and complimented the participated children. He also disclosed that the young participants will be thoroughly evaluated and be published in booklet shape or some reputed magazines. In his address he also spoke on the importance of national language and ensure that DKM team will organizes more such creative programs and workshops in future. Among others were present include: Dimpal verma, Sudesh kumar, Seeta, Sandhya, Harbans lal, Koshal kumar, Chaman lal and Abhinash parihar.

Govt. Degree College organises Maiden Alumini Meet ‘Sangam’2022

IQAC, Govt. Degree College Marh organised Maiden Alumini Meet under the leadership and supervision of worthy Principal Prof. Rakesh Kumar Koul on 28.12.2022.The event was attended by the Alumni who had registered for the event. The theme of the Alumni Meet was “Sangam - Confluence”.The event commenced with lighting of the lamp by the Chief guest Sh.Sukhnandan Choudhary (Ex Minister & MLA), Dr.Jyoti Bhau(BMO,Marh), Sh.Parshotam Lal (Sarpanch,Dhateryal), office of the ZEO Marh, Principal and staff members of the college.All the guest dignatories were felicitated by Momentos and Mufflers. Principal of the college, Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Kaul in his keynote address welcomed the guests and highlighted the different developmental activities that have been leading the college to great heights. He wished the alumni all the success for their future endeavours and explained them about the importance of reunification. Prof.Ramdayal presented the brief report highlighting the curricular and cocurricular activities organised in the college. A powerpoint presentation highlighting achievements of various cells and departments of the college was also showcased to the audience. Cultural programme including patriotic songs, folk dance and Mime was also performed by the Ist, 3rd and 5th semester students of the College on this occasion. The Almunus shared their past experiences at the College and were felicitated by Memontos. Elections for the Maiden Alumini Association were also conducted where in Presidium comprising the President, Vice President, General Secretary and Treasurer have been elected. The Alumnus onspot contributed nearly two thousand rupees for Alumni Fund of the college. The alumni meet ended with formal vote of thanks by Prof.Madhavi Parasher. Plantation drive was also carried out by the NSS unit in the college campus. Students who brought laurels in different sport activities held at state, National and International level were also felicitated during the event. Dr.Ashu Jolly was the Coordinator of the Alumni Meet and Dr.Pallavi conducted the proceedings. Compilation of PPT and all the technical support required was done and provided by Prof.Shallu Gupta, Ms.Neha and Mr.Mohit. Prof. Anjana Chib, Prof. Asha Kumari, Dr.Pallvi Mangotra, Ms. Tanu, Ms.Baby have supervised all the cultural items perfomed in this event. To mark the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Eco-club, NSS and Sports Club, GDC Marh, conducted Cleanliness drive in the college campus and Poster making competition on 01.10.2022 and 02.10.2022, under the guidance and leadership of worthy Principal Prof. Rakesh Kumar Koul. Principal said that the best tribute one can pay to Sh. Mahatma Gandhi is to make Clean India, a healthy - green India and Clean India 2.0 campaign served as a significant milestone in making people aware of the importance of cleanliness, hygienic and healthy society. Under ongoing Clean India 2.0 Campaign 2022, cleanliness drive has been started in the college campus, wherein students of the college collected the trash, garbage from the middle school, near ZEO office Marh, put it in the dustbins and made the concerned officials and staff aware about the importance of this programme. This campaign will continue till 31st, Oct.2022. An online Poster-making competition was also organised to commemorate the celebration of Gandhi jayanti. Many students of the college participated in this activity and prepared hand made posters depicting life and works of Mahatma Gandhi. The programme was organised by Prof. Anjana Chib (Convenor, Ecoclub),Prof. Sachin Kumar Bhagat(NSS,PO), Mr. Ravi Kumar(PTI) and coordinated by Dr. Shakun Sharma (Member,Ecoclub&NSS).

Govt. Degree College, Marh organized One Day Seminar on ‘Poshan Abhiyaan on 30.09.2022

Under the aegis of Higher Education Department, IQAC, NSS and Dept. of Sociology, GDC Marh, organized one day seminar on ‘Poshan Abhiyaan’ in collaboration with Sub Divisional Hospital, Marh on 30.09.2022. The programme started with the formal address by worthy Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, wherein he stressed on the importance of balanced diet for the holistic development of the body. Poshan Abhiyaan, an overarching multi-ministerial convergence mission, provides us an opportunity to eradicate under nutrition that is working towards a malnutrition-free India by 2022. Resource Person of today’s event, Dr. Tanvi Gupta (Medical Officer, SDH Marh) briefed the students about the importance of local food, millets rich in nutrients, viz., vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates in their daily lives as they are powerhouse of antioxidants and how packed food/junk food brings degenerative changes in the body. She also focused on Menstrual Hygiene, the essentiality of Iron and calcium in their daily diet, and intake of local food resources for a healthy living. Dr. R.P. Singh and Dr. Shri kant Sharma talked about the diseases occurred due to the deficiency of above said nutrients in the body. An interactive session was held wherein students of the college participated, discussed the various problems related to the adequate nutrition and asked relevant questions to Dr. Tanvi. The proceedings of the programme was conducted by Dr. Shakun Sharma (HOD, Sociology) and formal vote of thanks was given by Prof. Anjana Chib (HOD,EVS). The programme was organised by the Dept. of Sociology and coordinated by the IQAC and NSS PO, Prof. Sachin Kumar Bhagat. Prof. Hans Raj(Convenor, IQAC), Prof. Anita Kumari, Prof. Madhavi Prashar, Prof. Ram Dayal, Dr..Balwinder Saini, Mr. Ravi Kumar, were present on the occasion. Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of Organizing Committee in conducting such seminars that specifically focused on indigenous and traditional lifestyle interventions for a healthy life.About 60 students participated in the Poshan Abhiyaan Seminar. Winner students of the painting competition related to Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan were felicitated by presenting Sketch Pen boxes to each winner as a source of encouragement and motivation to participate in future programmes.

Geography Department of Govt. Degree College Marh celebrated 6th Anniversary of Surgical Strike on 29-9-2016 in the college campus. The program was inaugurated with Lighting of lamp by Principal GDC Marh. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul along with Prof. Anita Sharma, Prof. Hans Raj, Prof. Ram Dayal and Prof. Sachin Bhagat,PTI Ravi Sharma. The principal in his inaugural address encourged the student s about the importance of Nationalism and asked students to take pledge to serve the nation selflessly. Prof.Asha Kumari proceeded the program through the PowerPoint presentation regarding Geographical position of J&K its strategical location /borders with neighbouring countries and its socio political effects in relevance with the syllabus of sem 2nd Geography of J&k under NEP2020. A documentary was shown to 60 students present in the programme of surgical strike . Simran kumari student of semester I delivered her speech about the importance of Surgical Strike.All the students and faculty took the pledge for National Service. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Ram Dayal. The faculty members who graced the occasion were Prof.Shallu Gupta, Lect. Neha,Prof.Shakun Sharma, Prof. Anjana Gupta,Tanu Sharma lect.Hindi. To observe NSS Day, Poster making competition was organised at Govt. Degree College Marh in collaboration with NSS unit and De-Drug Addiction Cell, GDC Marh on 24.09.2022 under the guidance and leadership of worthy Principal Prof. Rakesh Kumar Koul. Principal said that the NSS motto “Not Me but You" represents the spirit of democratic living and emphasizes the need for selfless service and celebrating this day makes the students confident, develop leadership skills, gain knowledge about different people from different walks of life. Many students of the college participated in this activity and prepared hand made posters on the theme ‘Say No to Drugs’, which were adjudged by Prof. Asha (HOD,Geography) and Dr. Balwinder Saini (HOD, Chemistry). Shriya Chib and Jasmeet Kour of BA Sem 1st secured Ist and 2nd rank, followed by Anshu Sharma of Sem.1st got third rank respectively. Certificate of merit was given to Ritika Choudhary of BA Sem 1st. The programme was organised by Prof. Sachin Kumar (NSS, PO) and coordinated by Prof. Anjana Chib (HOD,Evs) and Dr. Shakun Sharma(HOD, Sociology). Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of Organizing Committee in celebrating NSS Day to commemorate the tireless efforts of each volunteer towards the welfare of one and all.


GDC MARH ORGANIZED RALLY ON “NASHA MUKAT BHARAT ABHIYAN” on 20-9-2022.

To create awareness among the students and public in general about nasha mukt abhiyan, NSS Unit and Road Safety club of GDC Marh organized a counseling session and rally on 20/09/2022 under Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiyan. The rally was taken around ZEO office Marh, Govt. Middle School Marh , College and Panchayat Dhateryal .In the rally the students raised slogans against drug abuse and took pledge not to fall prey to it and also to protect people from this menace especially youth of India. The programme started with the welcome address by the Principal, who stressed upon ill effects of drugs on the health of youth. He said that there is pressing need to curb the drugs menace from the roots.. Prof. Hans Raj convener IQAC also motivated the students not to indulge in the drug addiction. All the proceedings were conducted by Prof. Sachin Bhagat NSS (PO) and Mr. Ravi Kumar convener Road Safety club., Mr. Kewal Krishan, Dr. Nadeem, and Mr. Mohit Kalotra were also present in the rally. The rally ended with distribution of pens among the students from college side, as an encouragement to become ambassador of college for Nasha Mukat Bharat Abhiya. 60 students, faculty and staff participated in Rally with great enthusiasm.


GDC Marh observed One Day camp on ‘World Clean Up Day’ on 17-9-2022.

To observe World Clean Up Day, Eco club, GDC Marh organised one day camp on 17.09.2022 under Swachahta Campaign about Plastic waste management in collaboration with Regional Urban Development Agency (RUDA) Jammu. The programme started with the welcome address by the Principal Prof. Rakesh Kumar Koul, who stressed that Plastic products are an indispensable commodity due to its versatility, excess availability and low cost. But, now It is time to support the proliferation of sustainable zero-waste practices and plastic ban to address plastic pollution. Mr. Sanjeev Arora, CEO RUDA, Jammu demonstrated the students and faculty about the segregation and plastic waste management in Jammu and impotance of Dry Waste Model. Guest speaker, Mr. Vidya Bhushan (CEE,Delhi) briefed the students about the harmful effects of using plastic and made them aware about Central govt. schemes of reducing plastic in phased manner. He also talked about the importance of Linear and Circular economy in plastic production, consumption and generation of waste. The RUDA team also donated separate dustbins in the college campus to segregate dry waste and collected the plastic waste in the college. An interactive session was held wherein students of the Eco club participated and discussed the various issues related to their areas. Students collected the waste, litter, garbage of the college as a mandatory activity of the camp. The proceedings of the programme was conducted by Prof. Anjana Chib (EVS) and formal vote of thanks was given by Dr. Shakun Sharma (Sociology). The programme was organised and coordinated by the members of Eco-club GDC Marh. Principal of the college appreciated the efforts of Organizing Committee in conducting such activities for making a green campus.


GDC Marh,Department of Hindi celebrated Hindi Diwas on 14.09.2022.

Hindi Diwas was celebrated at Govt. Degree College Marh, in lieu of Shikshit Bharat Abhiyan, under the guidance and supervision of Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul. An online slogan writing competition on the theme ‘भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप के सभी लोग हिंदी समझे और विदेशो में भी इसका प्रचार प्रसार किया जाए’ was organised in the college. Principal of the college said that this day is dedicated to promote and encourages the use of Hindi as it is our mother tongue and official language. The celebration of this day reminds people of the importance of our national language and it must be valued and respected. He congratulated all the winners as well as participants for their participation. Students participated in this activity and prepared slogans on the related theme. Anuradha of B.com 2nd Sem, Anjali of B.A 2nd Sem were adjudged first and second, the third position was bagged by Shivani of B.A. 2nd sem. 13 -09-2022.GDC Marh commenced Gandhi Jayanti celebrations with great fervor under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul organized Book Reading and Review Programme on 13 september, 2022.Gandhi ji' s autobiography " My experiments with truth" was read by NSS Volunteers and students.A lecture was also organized on topic " Addressing drugs challenges in health" by Prof Sachin Bhagat " Nasha Muqt Bharat Abhiyaan "Programme was organised and coordinated by Prof. Sachin Bhagat NSS PO , Prof. Asha Kumari and Mr. Ravi kumar. IQAC Convenor Prof Hansraj, Prof. Ramdayal, Prof Anjana Chib were also present in function.

To mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, GDC Marh celebrated Teacher’s day with great fervor under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul organized Book Reading and Review Programme on 6th september, 2022.The programme was organised and coordinated by Prof. Anita(Deptt.of English), Ms. Dharpreet, Ms. Tanu(Deptt.of Hindi) and Ms. Baby Sharma(Deptt.of Dogri). The novel that was taken up for Book Review was a Dogri novel named 'नानु पीर की जंग दा आखरी किला'.This novel throws light on the historical background of Dogra culture and the harmful effects of consuming drugs. Essay Writing Competition was also organised on 7th September, 2022.The programme was organised by Prof. Anita Kumari(Deptt. Of English) and Ms. Tanu Sharma( Deptt of Hindi) . The topic of the essay writing was "NEP 2020:Role of Teacher in achieving the objectives of Inclusion and Excellence".The topic in Hindi was " नई शिक्षा नीति 2020: समावेश और उत्कृष्टता के उदेशयों को प्राप्त करने में शिक्षक की भूमिका ".Twenty students participated in this Essay Writing Competition. Two students Harsh Kumar in English and Vishali Devi in Hindi stood first. Suraj Sodhi stood second in English and Anjali stood third in Hindi.


Teacher’s Day Celebration at Govt.Degree College Marh on 05.09.2022.

To mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, GDC Marh celebrated Teacher’s day with great fervor under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul. A plethora of activities including a Seminar, Cultural Dance performance by students, book reading and essay writing competition marked the celebrations in the college campus. The programme started with the formal address by worthy Principal Dr. Rakesh Kumar Koul, wherein he stressed on the importance of celebrating this day that involves the role of teaching fraternity in nurturing minds, nation building and to acknowledge the challenges, hardships, special roles that teachers play in our lives. He also congratulated the faculty and appreciated the efforts of the students in organizing the programme. A seminar on the topic ‘Role of Teacher viz-a-viz NEP-2020’was organized in which many students participated and share their views. In the Essay writing competition, Harsh Kumar and Vishali Devi of BA Sem 2nd secured Ist rank, followed by Suraj Sodhi of Sem.2nd got second rank and Anjali got third rank respectively. A number of students participated in the book reading & review activity and discussed the novel 'नानु पीर दी जंग दा आखरी किला', focussing on the harmful effects of consuming drugs.A pledge on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan was also taken by the Principal, Staff members and students of the college. GDC MARH ORGANISES ONLINE SLOGAN-WRITING COMPETITION ON GANDHI JAYANTI

Continuing with Azadi ka Amrut Mahostav & Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, NSS Unit of GDC Marh in collaboration with Cultural Committee, Marh organised an online slogan writing competition on the theme ‘Role of Gandhi ji in Freedom Struggle’, under the guidance of Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta,. A number of students participated in the activity with full enthusiasm. Slogans that were made by students include the messages related to cleanliness, truth, non-violence, principles of life, etc. The programme was organised and coordinated by the NSS unit & Cultural Committee members of GDC Marh.


NSS Unit and Psychological Counselling Cell of GDC Marh organize Online Interactive meet on "A Healthy outside starts from the inside" on 21/01/2022 at 11.00 am

An Interactive meet on the topic ' A healthy outside starts from the healthy Inside' was organized online under the patronship of worthy Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta. The resource person for the session was Dr. Mitali Gupta,renowned Dietitian and Clinical Nutritionist. Prof. Shallu Gupta gave the welcome address. Principal of the College, Prof. Aekta Gupta, highighted the essentiality of organising such meet and sessions in COVID times so that students must know the importance of balanced diet and eating healthy. Mitali Gupta, stressed upon Eating healthy before, during and after COVID-19 to mitigate physiological and psychological impact. She talked about the two types of Immunity, Innate & Acquired Immunity and spoke in detail about the importance of different minerals and vitamins, their sources to boost the immunity of the body. More healthy the diet, less would be the body prone to COVID infection, she added. Students of the college enthusiastically participated in this online programme and shared their queries.Formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof.Satish Kumar.The programme was organised and coordinated by Prof.Anjana Chib and Dr.Shakun Sharma.


Government Degree College Marh observed World Aids Day 2021

Red Ribbon Club, Government Degree college Marh organized an Online Poster-making Competition on the theme ‘End Inequalities, End AIDS’, under the guidance and supervision of Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal GDC, Marh. A good number of students participated in the competition with full zeal and zest. Posters were made by students which include messages related to prevention, control and mode of transmission of AIDS. Principal, Prof Aekta Gupta emphasized that main objective of such programmes is to make the students aware about HIV/AIDS and highlighted that there is an urgent need to end inequalities that drive aids and other pandemics around the world. The programme was organized and coordinated by the members of Red Ribbon club of the college


GDC Marh organizes online webinar on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace

Committee Against Sexual Harassment (CASH) Government Degree College, Marh organised one day webinar on Prevention of sexual harassment at work place. Dr. Vishav Raksha, HOD Department of Sociology and Director, CWS University of Jammu and Dr. Sonia Aneja Asstt. Prof. Dept. of Law, University of Jammu, were the resource persons for the said webinar. The proceedings of the webinar was conducted by Prof. Madhavi Prasher, HOD Botany. Principal of the college, Prof Aekta Gupta in her key note address said that violence against women is an extreme manifestation of gender inequality and all have the right to live freely without being harassed. Only solution to stop harassment is to speak out. She also congratulated faculty for conducting webinar to create awareness on workplace harassment. Dr. Vishav Raksha, resource person for the first session talked about the patriarchal system in our society is causing harassment to females at every aspect of their life. She explained in detail sexual harassment mostly occurs when their difference in power and authority and is very common in the education system. She also highlighted about the Vishaka guidelines, and POSH (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) act, 2013. She illustrated many examples of sexual harassment before students which will help students to become conscious and aware of things in their surroundings. In the second session Dr. Sonia Aneja talked about the legal aspect of sexual harassment. She explained in detailed about Vishaka guidelines of Supreme Court and emphasized that sexual harassment is an affront to the fundamental rights of women equality and is considered offence in Indian Penal code. She also described in detail about the rules and regulations and different sections of POSH act, 2013.The formal vote of thanks was presented by the Prof. Ashu Jolly, HOD Education. GDC Marh under the guidance of Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta observed World Disability Day. On the occasion Prof. Shallu Gupta, HOD Computer Science of the college was felicitated for her achievements and hard work. Prof. Shallu Gupta in her success story shared her experiences with the students and also motivated them to work hard in life to overcome all the challenges of life and achieve the goal. Science Club, GDC Marh organises Science Quiz Competition on 2nd December

Science Club, GDC Marh organises Science Quiz Competition on 2nd December, 2021 under the patronship of Worthy Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta. Students of the college participated in the quiz with great zeal and enthusiasm. In the beginning lighting of lamp was done by Principal of the college and staff members to initiate the program. Welcome was delivered by Prof. Shallu Gupta (HOD Computer). Principal in her key note address stressed upon the importance of such activities for all round development of students. Worthy Principal appreciated the efforts of members of Science Club. She encouraged Prof. Hans Raj Sharma Convener of the club, Prof. Ram dayal Quiz Master and Dr. Balwinder Saini scorer for organising the event successfully and in a graceful manner..In his address Prof. Hans Raj Sharma, Convener Science Club, advised the students to participate in such activities in future also. Total four teams participated in the quiz i.e. Team A,B,C & D. Team A was the winner of the Quiz Competition in which Vishali, Khushboo and Kavishka Sharma of Sem 1st participated. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Shakun Sharma (HOD Sociology). The program was co-ordinated by Dr. Balwinder Saini (HOD Chemistry). In the end, prize distribution was done among the winning team and runner up team.

To celebrate Cyber JaagrooktaDiwas, Department of Computer Applications,Government Degree College Marhorganized an Online Intra College Poster-making Competition on the theme ‘CyberCrime’, under the guidance of Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal GDC, Marh. Principal of the college appreciated the participation of the students and said that such activities empower everyone to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace. A number of students of the college participated in the competition. The participants were judged by Prof. Ashu Jolly, Head, Dept. of Education of the college. Ashish Sharma of BScSem 3rd was adjudged first whereas Sakshi Bhagat of BA Sem 3rd was adjudged second and third position was bagged by Vaishali of BSc Sem 1st and MuskanChibof BA Sem 3rd. The event was organsied by Prof.Shallu Gupta, Head(Computer Applications) and coordinated by Dr.Shakun Sharma, Head(Sociology).

Investiture ceremony was held at GDC, Marh today on 11th of December 2021 to entrusted responsibility in the young leaders to discharge their duties honestly, sincerely and rest of their abilities. The programme was commenced was under the chairmanship of worthy Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta. Welcome address was given by Prof. Shallu Gupta. Fair elections were conducted by the election body of the college including Prof. Hans Raj, Prof. Madhvi Prasher, Prof. Ram Dayal and Prof. Ashu Jolly. Badges of different categories including class respresentatives (CR’s), President, Vice-President, Joint Secretary etc were pinned up by the respected Principal Mam and staff members during the investiture ceremony. In the keynote address, Principal mam wished the students and congratulate the students for their leadership quality. The guest of honour i.e. Principal mam said that each student is unique and have a potential to lead the college and in future all of them will be the nation builders. Pledge was administered by Student Welfare Committee and taken by the students where they promise to uphold the values and traditions of the college campus. After that torch ceremony took place in which lightening of torch was done by Principal mam and then handed to President and whole presidium of college as a symbol of performing all duties and responsibilities for the welfare of college. Student’s body also represent themselves and express their feelings and gratitude towards the college. Prof. Shallu Gupta conducted the proceedings of the programme and vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Ram Dayal. In the end, National Anthem was sung by all present in the ceremony.

As a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, GDC Marh observed National Energy Conservation Week under the guidance of Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta. During this week long program various activities were done by students. Students made pamphlets on “energy Conservation & distributed it in Panchayat & village Nagbani. A Rally of NSS Volunteers was also flagged by Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta to aware citizens about energy conservation. A Pledge was also taken to save electricity. Programme was conducted by Red Ribbon Club & NSS Unit of the college. Principal Prof Aekta Gupta appreciated the role of committee members Prof. Anjana Chib, Prof. Sachin Bhagat, Dr. Shakun Sharma and Prof. Satish Kumar.

Red Ribbon Club & NSS unit, Government Degree College Marh organized an Online Intra College Poster-making Competition on the theme ''Equality, Reducing inequalities, advancing human right", under the guidance of Prof Aekta Gupta, Principal GDC, Marh. In her address to students she said “A right is not what someone gives you it’s what no one can take from you”. Principal of the college appreciated the participation of the students and said that such activities plays an important role in educating people about their basic rights. A number of students of the college participated, made posters on different sub themes related to human rights and presented slide show of the same. The programme was organsied by Prof. Anjana Chib (EVS) and coordinated by Prof.Sachin Kumar (Pol.Science) and Dr. Shakun Sharma, (Sociology).


In connection with the month-long nation wide clean India Campaign

In connection with the month-long nation wide clean India Campaign which started from Dec 1st to Eco-club unit of Govt Degree College Marh in collaboration with NSS unit organized awareness drive in the college premises under the guidance of College Principal, Prof. Aekta Gupta. In her address, she stressed upon the sustainable use of water resources and water conservation. The convener of Eco Club Prof. Anjana Chib awared the students about the importance of water bodies in maintaining and restoring the ecological balance. She asserted that these sources act as sources of drinking water, recharge ground water, control floods and provide livelihood opportunities to a large number of people. The students of college took extensive awareness and cleanliness drive at river bank near village Dhateryal. They took the message of cleanliness of water bodies to their local wards and villages. Prof Sachin Bhagat coordinated the program along with NSS volunteers.


National Mathematics Day & Dogri Manyata Diwas observed at GDC Marh

To mark the 134 th birth anniversary of S. Ramanjuan, Department of Mathematics, Govt. Degree College, Marh organized poster presentation and oral presentation on National Mathematics Day under the patronship of worthy Principal Prof. Aekta Gupta. The speaker for the oral presentation was Dr. Sumit Dubey, Asstt. Prof. in Mathematics, GDC Kathua. The programme started with the lightening of the lamp and welcome address by Prof. Madhavi Prashar (Botany). Principal of the College, Prof. Aekta Gupta,in her keynote address, stressed upon the importance of application of maths in our everyday life and highlighted the need for the promotion of Dogra language and culture in today’s times. She also congratulated the coordinator, Prof. Ram Dayal and committee members of the programme for organizing such informative and culturally sustainable activities. Dr. Sumit Dubey spoke in detail about the contribution of Ramanjuan and gave a practical presentation on the equations, real numbers and how to approximate non- terminating and non-repeating numbers. To celebrate Dogri Mannyata diwas, Dept. of Dogri, GDC Marh organised poetry recitation competition in Dogri language. Prof. Satish Kumar (Dogri Dept.) spoke about the relevance of celebrating Dogri diwas. Prof. Sachin Kumar briefed about the historical background of Dogra festivals, rituals in different institutions of society. Dogra Cuisines like Gheyoor, meetthay chawal, kimb, Kacahalu were prepared and served to make the students aware about the indispensability of Dogra culture. All the arrangements related to preparation of cuisines were managed by Prof. Ashu Jolly, Prof. Shallu Gupta, Dr. Shakun Sharma. Students of the college enthusiastically participated and Presidium of the college actively managed the whole event. All the faculty members attended the programme. The programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by Prof. Ram Dayal, Head, Dept. of Mathematics.
